Picture my week. Not quite the Tour de France April 7, 2014 by portugalholidayguide 1 Comment After another wet start to the week I spent a lot of time indoors drinking tea and making stamps ( check out http://www.craftinginportugal.wordpress.com) I had a few meals out this week . Leitao( suckling pig ) for Sunday lunch was a real treat and I had a lovely evening at a restaurant in Gois at a retirement/ birthday party Finally the sun same back , so it was a case of making hay whilst the sun shined Yesterday a cycle race passed through the village , which made a nice change The leaders looked quite professional, and made it seem easy , as they headed off across the valley to Ponte do Sotao Most of the nine villagers came to watch . but the hens and goats which are usually found wandering around the village were kept locked away for the big event . I had a great view from my terrace. ….and watched as ” the crowd went wild” The later riders stopped to chat to the ” crowd” and catch their breathe. and this man asked me for some aguadente to help him finish the race ( it is very strong alcohol) I doubt that would happen on the tour de France … By lunch time the village was quiet again, and everyone enjoyed a relaxing day in the sunshine .
