Picture My week Schist villages and Sunshine October 9, 2013 by portugalholidayguide 1 Comment I finished my still life fruit painting and started experimenting with my polymer clay whilst I have been working my neighbours dog has started waiting outside my house for me I had a trip to the movies to see the new Woody Allen film The sun returned , so lots of people were busy picking grapes this week The highlight of my week was going with a friend on a 9 km walk, passing through 4 schist villages we began at the village of Aigra Nova heading off early towards Aigra Velha and had some great views early on In less than an hour we were passing the village of Aigra Velha , and it was getting warm the path here was mostly schist rock which is what most of the houses are made from We followed a river towards the next village -Pena and arrived in the pretty village of Pena, in time for lunch Leaving Pena we came to the highest point of the trail . It was such a clear day we could see for miles and in the middle of nowhere we came across bee hives ! the reason being the hills here are covered with heather as well as bees , we saw this handsome chap out for a stroll Then the track dropped steeply down through a forest . By this time we were glad of the shade and my newly aquired walking stick came in very useful shortly after leaving the forest we arrived at the village of Comareira and after a walk along the road we were back at Aigra Nova. HURRAY !!! The schist walking track has been on my list of things to do for ages , so I am chuffed I finally made it !!! Advertisements Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading...
