Picture My Week – Figs and rainbows October 2, 2013 by portugalholidayguide 2 Comments The rain and wind arrived this week , after 5 months of fine weather One of the casualties of the weather – a branch snapped off one of the fig trees i picked 3 kilos of lovely figs from that one branch ( and lots more from the other trees ) and as the weather has kept me indoors, I have been trying out ways to use them . I’ve roasted some in red wine , honey and thyme I’ve made fig and apple chutney which will keep me going for a while I made a Fig and banana loaf .. fig walnut cookies and every day I pick and eat some straight from the tree. With 8 fig trees in the village , many still go to waste though ! in amongst the rain and grey clouds we have had a few lovely rainbows and the tempreture is still in the 20’s so no need for Winter clothes just yet ! as I have not been walking , I started trying out my calligraphy pens , which have been gathering dust all Summer and my Xmas cards are finished My work table look more like a green grocers as I practise drawing and painting apples , quince, plums and of course figs ! acrylic painting of a quince a sketch of a fig Advertisements Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading...
