Picture my week 11th – 17th Sept . Two very lovely days. September 18, 2013 by portugalholidayguide 2 Comments The highlight of my week was visiting The city of Viseu with a friend. it was my first visit , and I love discovering new places. We wandered through little back streets where we spotted this colourful door .. ..and this fun window display . The streets led up to the main square, which was the highest part of of Viseu. The view was great In the square we found the catherdral , art museum, the tourist office and a few places to eat We chose this restaurant .The food was good and the English translations made us giggle ! After lunch we visited the Grau Vasco art museum and I took lots of photographs of tree paintings I enjoyed the impressionist paintings and a temporary exhibition by the artist Joaquim Fransisco Lopes . At the tourist office we were told there was a concert by Oxford University Choir in the cathedral later. We were glad we stayed to listen – they were wonderful After the concert we had a quick look around the Feria ( fair) that was taking place , before heading home. Sunday was another great day . I was up really early and I walked down the Roman road towards Gois. It was misty and cool – very Autumnal . I took lots of photographs , and enjoyed the silence. On my way home I stopped at Marios cafe for coffee, a sweet bread called Broa doce, and a bit of Portuguese practice with Mario. Once I was home I continued with more tree painting … In the afternoon when the sun burned off the mist it became really hot , so I spent a relaxing hour or two under a shady tree, reading and drawing by the river in Gois . The villagers were happy that the sun came out too. It meant they could continue drying their recently harvested beans , which will see them through the Winter.
